Wall Art Worthy
Wall art worthy, what exactly does this mean? I made it up, but to me, this means a portrait worthy of being printed, framed or mounted, and hung on the wall. An example of this might be an incredible family portrait hanging on the living room wall in one’s house. Either way, I strive for this when I am doing a portrait session with my clients.
In the examples I have included with this post, you will see two very different portraits of Aaron. Both of which I feel are worthy of the title. The first portrait of Aaron and his bowtie is a bit more on the fun side, as he looks like a junior CEO or an important business professional. His clothing selection was on point, but his expression pulled it all together. The second image with the red shirt and grey sweater is much more of a traditional style portrait.
I intended to achieve a bit of a “painterly” style of portrait. I accomplished this by combining a specific kind of light with a particular color grading and retouching. The result is much more of an artistic look than a standard portrait. No matter how one slices it, my goal is to draw the viewer in, so much so that they begin to study the picture.
If you are looking for a picture worthy of hanging on the wall, please don’t hesitate to contact me. I would be happy to have a discussion and mull over some ideas with you.
